Anionic Polyacrylamide For Drilling Mud Additive

As a drilling mud additive, anionic polyacrylamide can be divided into colloid and powder. Colloidal is colorless transparent elastic colloid, and the powder is white powder or phosphorus solid. This product is odorless, non corrosive, soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents. It is mainly used as a flocculant for polymer non dispersing low solid water-based drilling fluid, and has the functions of improving the rheological properties of drilling fluid and reducing friction. Different molecular weights and anionic degrees can be selected according to their different functions.

Applications

1. Anionic polyacrylamide has strong flocculation, which can flocculate the mud and rock cuttings in the drilling process to form a larger flocculation group, which is convenient to clean the bottom of the well.

2. Polyacrylamide not only has strong flocculation, but also has good viscosity and rheology. In the process of drilling, it can lubricate the bit and drill pipe, reduce friction, reduce resistance, improve drilling speed and reduce drilling cost.

3. Polyacrylamide can protect the sol particles in drilling fluid through multi-point adsorption, gel protection and gel plugging, so as to prevent clay water expansion caused by filtrate entering the formation and well wall collapse.

4. In the process of drilling, the drilling fluid will leak due to the geological structure. Polyacrylamide can be used to plug the cracks and loose rock layers.

5. Polymers with medium anionic degree and high molecular weight can reduce the friction resistance of water flowing in the pipeline. Therefore, when the diameter and length of the pipeline remain unchanged, adding a small amount of anionic polyacrylamide for drilling mud additive into the water can improve the water delivery capacity of the pipeline or reduce the power consumption of the water delivery pump.
